Today's Readings for October 27th 2022

 Todays reading  Luke 13:31-35 Speaks about persevering in the mission, having a heart open to others and praying for those who persecute you. Jesus knows what he has to do and even though he found opposition on his journey to Jerusalem he persevered on his journey. Jesus wept for Jerusalem. His heart was not closed to them. He was not absorbed in himself or his own problems. Jesus sets an example for us to follow. Our hearts should not be closed either. We need to be open to the needs of those around us and even to those who attack the church.  The first reading  Eph 6:10-20 This reading is about putting on the armor of God so that we will be able to stand against the tactics of the Devil. For our struggle is not with flesh and blood but with the principalities, with the powers, with the world rulers of this present darkness, the evil spirits in the heavens. Saints of the Day for Wednesday the 26th of October

 There are a couple of interesting Saints today that I would like to share with you. You can read about them on the Laudate App for free Blessed José Gregorio Hernandez-Cisneros  The eldest of six children   Beginning at age 18, he studied medicine at the University of Caracas, Venezuela, graduating on 29 June 1888. Feeling called to religious life, José joined the Secular Franciscans on 7 December 1899, and began investigating becoming a Carthusian monk was forced to return to Caracas for health reasons. José took this as a sign that he should give up the idea of religious life, and serve an apostolate as a physician. That’s how he spent the rest of his life - single, celibate, prayerful and dedicated to caring for the poor for free. Anyone who cares for the poor for free is my kind of person!
